Once a website is launched, adding website content on a regular basis is extremely important, especially if your goal is to increase traffic. It does this by creating interest that will draw visitors back to your site. Also, and more importantly, it improves your search engine ranking, as their algorithms are looking for sites with a lot of strong content. The type of content may vary quite a bit between different types of websites, but it is crucial to form a workable strategy for doing so, that fits both you, and your business or organization.
For some sites, it is easy to determine your content options. If you represented a non-profit organization that held many community events, for example, a textual and/or photo record of each event would be an obvious choice. The events would all presumably center around the core mission of the organization, so the content would be relevant for the search engines, and of interest to the membership.
For other types of sites, service businesses, or instance, it is not as easy. One option would be some type of blog. An attorney may write a legal advice blog, for instance. While contractors may keep a chronicle of their best work, with photos and a few paragraphs about their more challenging jobs. Blogs, by the way, can work for any type of business, as long as the blog is relevant to the site.
A recipe collection can be the basis for adding website content. This is a good choice for any type of food market. You can roll out recipes one at a time. Between the ingredients and instructions, recipes can offer a fair amount of content. Market’s can feature recipes that are made with the food they sell, so it is all relevant to their business. And with timed publication, you can literally load up as many as you want all at once. Then, you can set each to publish at regular intervals over months or even years.
Another option for many businesses to add content is through customer reviews. One of the best ways I found to collect reviews is through your business’ Google listing. Google provides a link you can email specific customers to collect their review. After they write the review, you can copy and publish them on your site. Good reviews will certainly make a positive impression on new website visitors. But the added relevant content should also have a favorable affect on your search engine rankings.
The bottom line is that the more relevant content you have on your site, the better. And it doesn’t happen over night. That is why we structure our website management plans the way we do. It allows our clients to add content over time without the high front-end costs of most websites, as it can take a little time to build a strong internet presence. This can lead to disappointment at first, especially if you have just spent a ton of money. By tempering costs, and expectations, it allows us to work with you to build your presence over time.
